we need this
So much madness… so much violence… no simple solutions…
Words fail me when trying to express my feelings about such horrors as occurred in Connecticut last week. It’s hard to make sense of something that makes no sense. I won’t even try.
As so eloquently stated by Guy Tal and Greg Russell, and a few others, maybe the best thing to do is to unplug for awhile and look for answers within ourselves.
We need moments of silence and solitude. We need time to reflect on our world and our place in it. We need places where we can reconnect and rejuvenate. Wild places. Maybe then we can begin to deal with it all. I don’t really know what I’m trying to say, so I’ll just say we need this. Your thoughts are encouraged.
Happy holidays.

I agree!
I applaud those who have tried to post about such a tragedy, I for one couldn’t formulate more than a couple sentences. It is such a complicated issue to deal with in our society, and the world over really.
Thanks guys. What more is there to really say about it? Things obviously need to change, but we don’t know where to start. We can pass laws that put band-aids on the problems, but sooner or later we’ll need to identify and address the underlying issues that are driving this madness
Indeed – time for a getaway!!
Have a Happy Christmas PJ.
Thanks Derrick. I will. Merry Christmas to you too.
pj, I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and that 2013 is very good to you! I look forward to many visit here in the coming year!
Thanks Earl, and the same to you.
I’ll be looking for you…
Merry Christmas, PJ. I am taking a little quiet time to catch up on blog reading this morning before going back over next door and immersing myself in the Watson family din. We also need a lot of noise and chaos too, of the right kind. If it is a chaos and noise of love, friendship and family, it too is healing. Best wishes and happiness for the new year…
Thanks David.
Interesting thought, though I must admit I’m less inclined to appreciate the noise and chaos than most. I lean toward the silence and solitude… just the way I’m wired I guess.
Best wishes to you too. May the new year be wildly successful.
Solitude and quiet is much more healing and healthy in general and more often.
Being the timid, unsocial, reclusive type, I’ll buy that…
You are not alone in being at a loss for words, pj. As Mark said above, folks who can put the words together and express themselves at a time of tragedy like that are to be admired.
The image you posted is beautiful and, on the road to peace and serenity, it makes an excellent guidepost.
Best wishes for 2013, pj.
Thanks Steve… I appreciate that.
All the best to you too.
Thanks for the mention, PJ, and I completely agree with what you say…we need peace and solitude now more than ever.
Happy New Year…may 2013 bring that peace and solitude.
Anytime Greg… I’m always happy to steer others to good, thoughtful posts like yours.
Happy New Year to you too… I’ll second that wish.
Humans are deeply flawed creatures. There always have been and always will be monsters among us. There seems to be no end to possibilities of the horror we can visit on one another. Indeed, we will never make sense of senseless violence. As long as there are people, there will be monsters.
No doubt true…
Thanks for your thoughts Anita.
