some good photography sites

Gotta love the internet. Back when I started in photography, about the only way to find out about the work of other photographers was to lace up the shoes and go out looking for it. There were magazines, which published the works of a select few. There were expensive books featuring the work of a select few. Then there were a few galleries, some well known and others obscure, that showed, again, the works of a select few. Any other information, whether it be technical, philosophical, or personal and creative, had to be gleaned by spending hours in bookstores and libraries. Much has changed.

Now, thanks to the web, and the fact that publishing is becoming simpler all the time, we have instant access to the work and thoughts of countless photographers. Some simply post photos. Others pass along tips and techniques and thoughts on the creative process behind their work. Much of it is very good.

I spend a good deal of time searching out these sites, and with that in mind I will occasionally post a roundup of interesting links, starting with these. So, for starters and in no particular order, here are a few sites that I read regularly or have recently discovered and intend to read regularly:

And, I would be ashamed if I didn’t mention a couple of Montana photographers who do some fine work. They are well worth checking out. Don’t fret — this isn’t an all-inclusive list. There are more and they will get mentioned:

There you go. Enjoy. Learn. Discover. If you have any favorites feel free to pass them along here. There are only so many hours in a day. I can’t find them all. Cheers.
